SIMPLIFIED SEASONS: Gift Wrapping
Hello, December. If this year has taught me anything, it’s to work with what I have, to slow down and welcome the simplicity that comes with both. In that spirit, I have a few Simplified Seasons posts planned for the month, starting with gift wrapping, which is one of my favorite things to do when I prepare and make time for it. But, when I’m rushed and last minute, it’s easily my least favorite thing to do during the holidays.
Like setting the table, I have a gift wrapping formula, sticking to what I love and have on-hand year-round. Kraft paper is the uniform for all packages - any time of year, any celebration - and for the holidays, I layer it with simple gift toppers and tags.
This approach keeps me on track and on budget; I stock up through the year, curbing mad dashes (and markups!) for supplies - which is especially convenient and such a relief in 2020. And, while I do occasionally add some seasonal touches, it’s all in the same neutral and natural color palette, making decisions quick, easy and minimal.
THE ESSENTIALS
White tulle // there are options with different sheens and sparkle to add variety for the holidays. For other occasions during the year, including birthdays (for kids and adults!), I wrap with postal paper and finish with different colors of tulle
White tissue paper
Gel pens, twine and tags cut from this craft punch or pre-cut, like these
SEASONAL ADDITIONS
Decorative paper // last year, I found snowflake-covered kraft paper that I loved, and the last few years, I have rotated in Spritz’s polka dot kraft paper from Target, which you can find year-round
Faux greenery // I add fresh greenery or faux, and have been clipping away at the same old garland scraps for years
I’ll be sharing some photos when I get wrapping this season on my Instagram feed. Come follow along!
